These handmade boxes in the Shaker style are perfect for storing almost anything, from seeds and spices, to sewing supplies, or even small toys. And they look beautiful anywhere in your home. Individually crafted and shaped in the traditional manner, these boxes are made with cherry wood sides and bottoms, and your choice of cherry, birds-eye maple, or lacewood tops. They are finished with three coats of food-grade walnut oil on the outside, while the inside is left unfinished, as is the common practice with these boxes.
The wood strips that make up the side are heated in hot water, bent around a mold, and secured with small copper tacks, while the tops and bottoms are secured with wooden pegs. No glue involved! They truly are a unique and beautiful piece of history.
Here’s a video I made showing the process of constructing each box.
